Are you guys hungry?!

It’s hard, isn’t it to start reading this review when you’re salivating to these pictures? From the corner of Beach Road and Arab Street, we proudly present you with Fika Swedish Cafe & Bistro! For those who have always wondered what real Swedish food tastes like, you’re at the right page.
Starting off with the crepes, it was filled with a good dose of salmon, fish roe and shrimps also served along with a mixed salad packed with a whole lot of freshness(I’d really recommend this to Seafood
FetishLovers.) Really tantalizing, tender, chunky and tender. Need I say ‘tender’ again?
Next comes the Swedish Pasta Bake, hot from the oven. From the picture, it may look like your average Mac & Cheese/Lasagna but you know what they all say, looks can be deceiving. When it’s being scooped, everything’s all clustered in a spoon; the perfectly cooked pasta baked with ‘minced’ beef and home-made cream sauce. Topped with melted cheddar cheese, it makes the dish more appealing as other customers would go “Hey, can I have what he’s having.”.
But what’s really worth the penny(not saying that the other main dishes aren’t) was the Swedish Pannbif which was new on the menu. Pannbif means meat patty and no, I’m not referring to the beef patties which you usually find fast joints. Two thick(1.5 inch), juicy patties smeared with cream sauce(I have this feeling that this sauce is the key to why their food taste really good)with a lavish serving of mashed potatoes and lingonberry jam. Verdict: ‘Grade A’ Beef Patty. YUM!!And of course, what kind of lunch would be without dessert? Fika offers a wide selection of cakes and other treats such as Swedish pancakes and Swedish Chocolate balls. One of the cakes which we ordered was the Caramel Pecan Chocolate Cake which was highly recommended by one of the staff. Two words: Awesome Sauce. And I don’t know what that means! Anyway, it tasted like Mars bars but way way way delicious. The other cake the Swedish Lingonberry Cheesecake. Basically, it’s a quality Cheesecake topped with a spoonful of lingonberry jam. Every bite’s a pleasure to the palate despite it’s simplicity.
If you’re here for a tea party, Fika has a promotion where you can have a pot of assorted tea and a big slice of cake for only $9.90!What are you waiting for! Stop drooling and get going!

Last week, Ferdowsi went Middle East. So this week, I went to check out an awesome North Indian restaurant which obviously serves North Indian food! (duh!) It might looked deceiving but this restaurant is not just your ‘Average Joe’. This restaurant have been here since 1998 with the compliments from our President and the prime minister.

With their fullest generosity in hospitality, not only you’ll have an all-you-can-eat buffet, but you’ll also get a free flow of Naan which is the best subtitute for Prata! YEAY!
And for those who are vegetarians, don’t fret because they serve it too! What kind of restaurant that won the Singapore Top Restaurant Awards 2002 doesn’t? You just got to try their Buffet Lunch Menu! It’s so worth every cent I bet you’ll come again for dinner! This Restaurant also offers a catering service for those lovebirds who are getting married or for some other occasion that you are planning.
Till the next meal,

Anatolia Turkish Restaurant.

Remember this guy, or have you ever been tricked by a ‘Turkish Ice Cream Man’? Well for those who have don’t have a clue about what I’m talking about, I’m talking about a Middle East restaurant. You don’t suppose an Ice Cream Man would have an army of chefs cooking behind him but they have been operating in the hidden corners of Far East Plaza since 1998!
Know we all know that when we hear Turkish food, we’d go “Oh, it’s probably kebab.” and that’s where we all went wrong! Anatolia has a wider repertoire to offer your appetite as their traditional key ingredients are spices and yogurt. Yes, yogurt. First on the main course was Kofte, Anatolian meatballs. Not similar to Swedish meatballs but tasty in terms of texture and chewiness. Now the restaurant gives you a choice to eat it with rice or bread. Preferably bread. Why not?
But what we’re really craving for was the second main course, the Iskender; copious amount of döner kebab (Not donor. They’re thinly cut grilled chicken, lamb or beef) basted with their version of tomato sauce over cubes of pide bread and generously slathered with yogurt to give a balanced flavour of spiciness and tanginess.
After every meal is dessert and I felt like I needed something sweet to give my appetite a finishing touch, so I ordered myself a satisfying chocolate mousse. Overall, the restaurant it a very good place to dine with your family or when you’re hungry from shopping at Far East Plaza. It’s affordable and contentive!
This has been Ferdowsi typing.

Badoque Café.

Lemme ask you, do you get irritated whenever your receive your bill and the price of your meal is slightly higher than its menu? Well, say goodbye to SERVICE CHARGE! Cause at Badoque… What service charge?

You would say that it’s a newly opened restaurant as they started last year but business has been good for them since most of their customers come down not only to dine, but to hang out. I went there with my cousin, last week for a treat. Badoque serves a wide range from Western to Italian cuisine and asian fusion. I ordered myself a WHOLLY COW pizza. Not only it is thin crusted and has a meaty factor, it is stone-oven baked! It’s almost enough to feed 3 to 4 people. Nrlizz got herself Alla Amatriciana, a pasta with a chuckful of suprises(HEAPS of sausages k!) With the food and the restaurant’s environment, the atmosphere was totally sky high.
For the finishing touches, we had what they call it ‘Gransters’ which are slushy ice-blended juices. I got myself a sweet Mango Granster and my cousin got a peachy Melba Granster. We totally had a great time adding the fact that the meal was affordable. So come on down to Badoque to see what they have to offer and if you happen to be an early bird from Tuesday to Friday, you’ll get a 15% off from your meal!
XOXO,
Slapfish.
